Story has it that the tea was granted the status of Gong Cha, or Imperial tea, in Qing Dynasty by Chinese emperor KangXi after being impressed by it during one of his holidays. The original bushes are still producing tea with the produced tea auctioned for over hundreds of dollars per gram.

I was very impressed with the quality of the leaves. When brewed, they become amazingly large and full. The taste is refreshingly sweet and light! The smell reminds me of the bamboo leaves of wrapped sticky rice.
